Harlington has been running the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme for 3 years now and we offer the scheme at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. The scheme includes four components: Skills, Volunteering, Physical Recreation and Expeditions. Gold students are required to go on a Residential Project (usually a period of 4 nights away from home).
Students are offered the opportunity to do their expeditions either by walking (locally in Bedfordshire, in the Peak District, in the Lake District and in Snowdonia) canoeing (River Ouse, River Wye, River Nene – subject to supervisor availability) or by Mountain Bike (locally in Bedfordshire, the Chiltern Hills, South Wales or in the Peak District).
