Year 9 - Music

The course will provide an opportunity for musicians to develop their performance skills in a variety of musical styles. It is particularly appropriate for students who wish to pursue music at Key Stage 4 and beyond.

Year 10 - Music GCSE

Do you enjoy listening to different types of music? Do you enjoy performing music, on your own or in groups? If you can answer “Yes” to both these questions, then the GCSE Music course may be for you! The GCSE Music course includes THREE different activities:

In the PERFORMING part of the course, you will have a chance to:

· perform as a soloist, on an instrument of your choice;

· perform as a member of a group;

· learn improvisation techniques.

In the LISTENING part of the course, you will have a chance to:

· listen to film, dance, pop and orchestral music;

· learn to analyse the music and describe it using technical vocabulary;

· improve your score-reading and knowledge of music theory.

In the COMPOSING part of the course, you will have a chance to:

· produce group compositions;

· learn how to compose your own music;

· learn about recording techniques;

· use the music technology suite of Mac computers and the packages Garageband and Logic.
